Award-winning country music recording artists Rascal Flatts will sing the national anthem before the 11th Brickyard 400 on Aug. 8 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The annual NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race starts at 2:30 p.m. (EDT, 1:30 p.m. Indianapolis time) at the historic, 2.5-mile oval.
Rascal Flatts, comprised of Jay DeMarcus, Gary Levox and Joe Don Rooney, has become one of the most popular country music groups after releasing just two albums, with more than 4 million copies sold.
The band's most recent album, "Melt," was certified double-platinum in May with more than 2 million copies sold. Rascal Flatts joined the Dixie Chicks as the only country act in the last 10 years to have its sophomore album reach double-platinum status. The band's third album is scheduled for a Sept. 28 release on Lyric Street Records.

Rascal Flatts has earned an impressive array of awards since its self-titled debut album released in 2000 spawned four top-10 singles, including the breakthrough hit "Prayin' For Daylight" and multimedia smash "I'm Movin' On." The band's impressive vocal harmonies and musicianship helped deliver 2003 Vocal Group of the Year awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the American Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers (ASCAP).
"I'm Movin' On" also earned the ACM Song of the Year Award in 2003.
Rascal Flatts is one of two country music superstar acts to perform on Race Day this year at the Brickyard 400. Two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Vince Gill will headline the "Buckle Up Bash starring Vince Gill" pre-race concert for all Race Day ticket holders from 11 a.m.-noon in the infield. Rising star Julie Roberts will open the concert, which is free for Race Day ticket holders, at 9 a.m.
Rascal Flatts also is performing at Verizon Wireless Music Center in suburban Indianapolis on Saturday, Aug. 7, as part of a triple bill with Kenny Chesney and Uncle Kracker. ***
